Great Ways to Help Your First Grader This Month......

1.  Take a family vote to find out favorite ice cream flavors.  Have your child tally the results to find a winning flavor.

2.  Visit the public library and check out a book of poetry for children.  Ask them to help you find rhyme and spelling patterns in the poems.

3.  Give your child a new responsibility in the house this month.  Allow them to help you with the household jobs and feel proud about having contributed.

Look closely at your child's "Math Boxes" when they come home.  These are pages from their math journal that have four tasks on them.  If your child has one or more incorrect, walk them through making corrections and help to review the concepts.

Reminders

 - If you have not already paid your PTO dues, please send in a check for $30 made payable to St. Gabriel PTO

     - Please label all of your child's personal items with   their names and class section (1A, 1B, 1C, 1D)

     - 1A & 1B are collecting for a "Kids Busy Basket" to donate to the Auction Gala.  1C & 1D are collecting for a "Much Appreciated Basket".  Please refer to Thursday packets for ideas on what would be great items to include.  Send in your items to your child's classroom no later than October 20th.

Reminders

Students must be in full dress uniforms all day when mass is scheduled.  Gym uniforms may not be worn on mass days.
