 Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

During arrival and dismissal, all cars must enter the campus at the southern Providence Road entrance. Do not enter from Sharon Lane since the campus becomes a one-way street during these times. A school representative will direct you where to stop and when to depart.

Click here for a map and instructions.

Arrival

School is in session from 7:45 AM to 2:20 PM for grades K-2,
And from 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM for grades 3-5.

Students may arrive as early as 7:00 AM. Students arriving between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM should report to the school gymnasium and be seated in the designated class area. At 7:30 AM students in the gymnasium will be escorted to their classroom. Children arriving after 7:30 AM should report directly to their classroom. Students are expected to be in their seat by 7:45 AM for Morning Prayer.

Arrival Car Lane Directions:

As you enter from the southern Providence Road entrance, please form two lanes approaching the Stop sign. A teacher will be stationed at this Stop sign. The teacher will direct you to proceed to either the 'Flagpole' lane, or the 'Center' lane of the school parking lot. If you are the first car, proceed in your assigned lane until you come to the end of that lane, where another teacher will direct you to stop. Students should then exit their vehicles from the left side in the 'Flagpole' lane, and from the right side in the 'Center' lane. This is done for safety reasons, so the teachers directing traffic can see the children. Parents: (1) please ask your children to walk promptly to the sidewalk; (2) please remain in your vehicles. As soon as the children have proceeded to the sidewalk, the cars are directed to exit the parking lot. Parents who leave their vehicles may hold up the line and delay the next set of cars from entering the parking lot.

Tardiness

Students arriving after 7:45 AM must report to the school office for a late admission slip. When a student is consistently late, a conference will be held with the student, parents/guardians, and the principal before the student will be admitted to the class.

Dismissal

Regular dismissal for grades K-2 is 2:20 PM (First Dismissal) and early dismissal is at 11:45 AM. Second Dismissal for grades 3-5 is at 2:45 PM with early dismissal at 12:00 PM. Before each dismissal, students will line up with their class in the "flagpole" parking spaces (immediately adjacent to the north side of the Parish Center). A school representative will be present to supervise dismissal. Students are to remain in line until the horn is sounded. Parents, or a designated adult, will escort the students to their vehicle at this time.

Any students in grades K-2 who are to be picked up at Second Dismissal will remain with the school representative until Second Dismissal.

Dismissal Car Lane Directions:

Please remember to enter the parking lot only from the southern Providence Road entrance. Even if you arrive early, please do not enter from Sharon Lane. Parents, teachers, volunteers and vendors may be trying to clear the school parking lot at this time, and will be using the Sharon Lane exit.

If you are coming for First Dismissal, we form multiple car lines in each of the three parking lot lanes (3 in the Grotto lane, 3 in the Flagpole lane, and 4 in the Middle lane):

1. The first car line is formed in the left-most position of the Grotto parking lot lane. This is the lane next to the Blessed Mother's Grotto. This line continues to be filled up, until the last car fits in just after the stop sign on the left side of the Flagpole lane (the lane immediately adjacent to the school).

2. The second car line starts to the right of the first car line in the Grotto lane and continues for several cars.

Now it gets tricky so pay attention!!!

3. Before the second car line continues to fill up, we start a third car line in the Grotto lane. The car that starts this line, would be the last car to fit in the second line in the Grotto lane. Continue to fill up the third line in the Grotto lane.

4. When the third line is filled, continue to fill up the second line until there is room for only one more car.

Now it gets tricky again:

5. Before filling in the last car of the second line, a third line is started in the Flagpole lane, to the right of the second line. Continue to fill up this third line.

6. Finally, the last car fills up the second line.

Now we are ready to start our four (yes 4) lines in the 'Middle' lane.

7. The first line is formed on the right side of the middle of the lane, so you can drive straight out the middle lane exit. This line should be filled, but leave one open space at the back so we have room to form the third line.

8. The second line is formed on the left side of the middle of the lane, so you can drive straight out the middle lane exit. This line should be filled, but leave one open space at the back so we have room to form the fourth line.

9. After the second line is filled, the third line is formed to the right of the first line.

10. After the third line is filled, the fourth line is formed to the left of the second line.

11. Then the last two cars park at the end of the first and second lines.

12. The next group of cars entering from Providence Road will be directed to form a line starting at the Stop sign in the left lane. This overflow group will be directed to enter the school parking lot after the first line of cars has started to exit the school parking lot.

If you are coming for second dismissal:

1. The first line of cars will form in the parking lot of the Youth Center building.

2. When this line is filled, a second line will start in the parking lot of the Ministry Center.

After First Dismissal, when the School parking lot has been cleared of all first dismissal cars, the second dismissal cars will enter, and start forming lines as above.

Carpool

Carpool sign-up forms will be available at the beginning of the school year. Students will be allowed to leave school only with those adults listed on the carpool form. A signed note to your teacher will be required if someone else will be picking up your child.

Rainy Day Carpool

Morning carpool is the same during rainy weather as it is every day. Please use extreme caution when dropping off children. Please make sure they wear protective clothing.

Afternoon dismissal is not the same. On rainy days, please park your car and enter the lobby and wait for directions from the school staff to proceed to the gymnasium to pick up your child. Enter the gym by the "coke machine door" and exit by the "elevator door".

After the first week of school, parents are strongly discouraged from walking their student into the building. This is unsafe and can interrupt the planned carpool flow. When it is necessary to assist a student into school, please park in the parking lot adjacent to the Youth Center building, and walk on the sidewalks to the school.

On those days when it is necessary to pick up early, parents should send a note or call in advance to the Receptionist explaining the necessity. Do not go to the classroom. The Receptionist will call down the student after the parent has signed out the student in the Receptionist office.
