Support
Chess Club:
Chess playing coordinated by a parent. Great fun and
challenging for the mind!
Volunteer Opportunities: Parent volunteers are needed.

Computer Club (3rd. Grade and
Up): Depending on grade, students meet
biweekly after school to enhance their computer
skills. One week is 3rd grade; the next
is 4th grade and 5th grade.

International Fair:
A two-day event for all students where parent volunteers
present information and points of interest about
various countries and areas of the world.
Volunteer Opportunities: Parent volunteers are needed to assist
with hospitality functions such as guiding classes
to and from the fair, refreshments, decorations,
etc. during the two-day event.

Library Volunteers:
Moderated by Mrs. Chase, School Librarian
Volunteer Opportunities: You can join your child in class during
their Library time! Parent volunteers assist with
the check-in and check-out of books, book return and
stocking, and other needs as they arise.

Library Long-Range Planning: A liaison between the school librarian and the PTO board
to assist in the implementation of the long-range
plan for Library improvements and needs.

Up): Students meet daily before school from 7:05-7:35 a.m. to
work on math games and problems on the computer lab.

Math Superstars: All students are given grade-appropriate, challenging math
problems to solve. Awards are presented to students
for their participation.
Volunteer Opportunities: Two parent volunteers are needed per
classroom (one for distribution and review of
worksheets, the other for grading). At the end of
the year, the Math Superstar volunteers will
organize an ice cream party for their class.

Music Club (3rd. Grade and
Up): Students meet bi-monthly after school
until 4:00p.m. to practice singing in preparation
for some of the school masses and other occasions.

School Community Development
Church
School Liaison:
The purpose of this committee is to
enhance and nurture the St. Gabriel School and St.
Gabriel Church association, by helping our students
and parishioners support and become more involved
with one another.
Volunteer Opportunities:

Parent volunteers meet the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of
every month to plan CSL activities.

Faith Advisory Committee:
Parents, faculty and staff who met to supply support
in the area of religious education.

Family Support:
This is a great group dedicated to supporting the
families in any way they may need. This includes
death in the family, job loss, emotional support,
new baby, etc. This is a great way to be involved in

Grandparents Day:
A day set aside to welcome Grandparents of our
students to the school so that they may experience
their grandchildren learning environment.

(15-20 hrs. once a year) Need to assist with
organization of Mass, Reception and any future
programs for Grandparents of our students.

Moms in Touch:
A prayer group, internationally founded, whose
mission is for Moms to come together to spend one
hour in prayer once a week.
Volunteer Opportunities:
(1 hr. every Thursday after drop-off) Parent
volunteers pray for the needs of each individual
classroom, as well as the general needs of the
school and its children.

Newcomers:
A group dedicated to welcome all new families and
answer questions and concerns they might have about
their new school. Various events are planned to
assist them with uniform measuring, cafeteria
training, and socials before the new school year
begins.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Parent volunteers organize and host events, as well
as serve as "Buddies" to new families establishing
personal contacts and answering questions throughout
the summer months.

An opportunity for parents to socialize over a cup
of coffee and refreshments after morning carpool.

Volunteer Opportunities
Fundraising
Book Fairs: They give the students the opportunity
to purchase books during their library time. This is
a large and academically oriented fundraiser for the
school. They are held twice a year. We offer a
family night with prizes and costume character.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Parent volunteers are needed to assist as cashiers
and help children select books and write their wish
lists. The schedule is very flexible and includes
evening shifts.

Chik-Fil-A Nights:
Each month, Chik-Fil-A in Cotswold Shopping Center holds a
"St. Gabriel Night" where 15% of all sales to St.
Gabriel families (upon request) are donated back to
the school.

Volunteers work with Chik-Fil-A to develop a schedule and
pickup/return the Chik-Fil-A Fundraising Sign to be
posted in front of the school on the day of the
fundraiser.

Consignment Sale:
Parents clean out their attics and drop off
treasures at the school for a Saturday sale in the
Spring. This outreach event purpose is to assist our
school families who will receive 80% of the profits.

Wrap/Candy Sales:
A yearly
fundraiser where students are encouraged to sell
Sally Foster wrapping paper to their families,

Box Tops for Education, Campbell Soup Labels,
Dominos Pizza, Harris Teeter and Target. Through
announcements, parents are solicited to participate.

School Spirit Shoppe:
The Spirit Shoppe is a PTO sponsored cart available
to our school families interested in
purchasing St. Gabriel School logo items such as
sweatshirts, t-shirts, pencils, lunch bags, etc.

specified times during the school day and school
events.

School Supplies:
School supplies are sold as a packet through
Innisbrook School Supplies and the PTO gets a
percentage of the sales.

Largest fundraiser with long-range planning
leading up to a formal evening of fundraising fun!

Volunteer Opportunities
Book Exchange:
Used books are donated by kids and parents then
resold during lunch time for $.25 each. The sale is
hosted once by each grade and the proceeds of that
sale are distributed to the grades to offset a
project or fieldtrip of their choosing.

(3 hr. each event) Parent volunteers will assist the
students with a monthly book exchange, six per year.

Catherine's House:
A foster home for families in need. Each St. Gabriel
classroom will adopt a family at Christmas time to
purchase gifts for. Gifts need to be collected from
the classrooms, wrapped and bagged. The student
Council will deliver them to the home.

the organization and cleaning of clothing, etc.

Provide support and assistance to the school
administration during the
week of events planned in honor of Catholic

Accumulated items are sorted and cleared from the
Lost and Found bins monthly. If items cannot be

MACS Open House:
All of the MACS schools hold Open Houses in the Fall
(Nov. 5, 7) to allow visitors to see all of our
Catholic Schools and experience our Catholic
Education environment as they prepare to enroll
their children for the next school year.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Assist in preparing materials to be made available
at the Open House, advertising, bulletin boards,
working shifts during the Open House to welcome
visitors and assist with tours. Fifth grade students
will also serve as tour guides.

Playground lanning/Grounds Beautification:
Volunteers would assist in the collection of
information and
pricing for playground growth and safety as well as
periodic clean up and spruce up of the playground
and
surrounding areas. It includes the recovery of lost
balls and general inspection of playground equipment.

Assist Teacher Assistants oversee the students at
play. Special training will be given for safety

A day of fun-filled games and activities for all
school students during the last
