Cub Scouts
We
are a very active pack with over 80 members from grades 1 through 5.
From Tom Gauch, the cub master of Cub Scout Pack 174
sponsored by
St. Gabriel Catholic Church:
I want to take this opportunity to invite your
son
to join Cub Scouts. For those who are not familiar with the Cub
Scouts,
we
are a family and home centered program for boys in the first through
fifth
grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years old). We offer young boys an
opportunity to
make friends, discover new things, and have a great time together
while
developing character and values.
Advancement:
Tiger - 1st
grade - There are
5 Tiger Cub achievement areas, and then you have to complete 15
requirements to earn the Tiger Cub badge.
Bobcat
- 2nd grade - The Bobcat ran is for all boys who join Cub
Scouting.
Wolf - 2nd
grade- To earn the Wolf badge, a boy must pass 12 achievements
involving simple physical and mental skills.
Bear: 3rd
grade - There are 24 bear achievements and you must complete 12 to
earn the Bear badge. These requirements are somewhat more difficult
and challenging.
Webelos - 4th
grade - A boy must begin working on the Webelos badge as soon as he
joins a Boy Scout troop. As he completes the requirements, he will
work on activity badges, attend meetings led by adults, and become
familiar with the Boy Scout requirements-all leading to the Arrow of
Light Award.
We meet as a
Pack the 3rd Tuesday night at 6:45pm in the School
Cafeteria. The meetings last until around 8:00pm.
The den meetings are scheduled by the leaders, generally Sunday
afternoons/evenings.
