Fruits of the Holy Spirit Awards

Overview

This Fruits of the Holy Spirit Award honors St. Gabriel Catholic School staff by recognizing those who inspire and help our students achieve their best by exhibiting the Fruits of the Holy Spirit:

Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-Control, Charity, and Modesty

The awards were established in 2024 by the School Leadership Council (SLC), with an aim to establish a tradition of rewarding excellence and furthering spiritual growth.  With the support from generous donors to the Jaguar Fund, nine St. Gabriel School staff members will be selected to receive a Fruits of the Holy Spirit Award, and will receive awards of $1,500 each.

Previous Award Recipients

2024 Veteran Faculty (5+ years): Mrs. Giroux, Mrs. Martin, and Mrs. Warren

2024 New Teachers (1-5 years):  Mrs. Booth, Mrs. Call, and Mrs. Obeck

2024 Support Staff (Admin and Teacher Assistants): Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Rawlins, Mrs. Savastano

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the award, a teacher must:
✅ Can be a full-time or part-time faculty member at St. Gabriel Catholic 
✅ Be in good standing with St. Gabriel Catholic School and MACS.
✅ Not have received this award in the past three years.

Veteran Faculty Members Award

  • Open to all certified, non-administrative staff (teachers, counselors, librarians) in good standing with St. Gabriel/MACS
  • Nominees must have completed 5 or more consecutive years of service at St. Gabriel

New Teacher Award

  • Open to all certified, non-administrative staff (teachers, counselors, librarians) in good standing with St. Gabriel/MACS

  • Nominees must be newer faculty with 1–5 years of service at St. Gabriel

Administrative Staff & Teaching Assistant Award

  • Open to all administrative staff and teaching assistants in good standing with St. Gabriel/MACS

  • Nominees must have completed at least 1 year of service at St. Gabriel

Award Criteria

Each recipient should consistently reflect the 12 Fruits of the Holy Spirit in their interactions with students, colleagues, and families. When reviewing nominations, the SLC will give particular consideration to individuals who:

  • Exemplify the Teacher/Minister role as outlined in the employment contract

  • Demonstrate an outstanding daily work ethic, including reliable attendance and adherence to the Teacher Handbook

  • Show respect and empathy toward all students and fellow faculty members

  • Exhibit selflessness by consistently putting the needs of students and colleagues first

  • Help foster a nurturing, Christ-centered environment at St. Gabriel through their words, actions, and presence

Nomination Process

📝 Who Can Nominate?

  • Current parents, staff members, or 5th-grade students may submit a nomination.
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.

📝 How to Nominate

  • Nomination forms will be available on the St. Gabriel Catholic School website, and will be sent via email.
  • Families will receive an e-blast announcement with nomination details.
  • Nominations will be accepted for three weeks following Spring Break.
  • Only nominations submitted during the official nomination period will be considered.

Selection Process

A selection committee will review all nominations. The committee includes:

  • School Leadership Council Members
  • St. Gabriel Catholic School Principal & Assistant Principal

The committee will evaluate nominations based on the award criteria.

Only candidates who fully meet the criteria will be considered.

The award will be granted only if the committee reaches a unanimous decision.

Award Presentation

The recipients will be honored at the last Mass of the school year.

Ther 2025 nomination period is Wednesday, April 16 - Friday, May 16, 2025.

ABOUT THE SLC

The School Leadership Council (SLC) advises the Principal in development of objectives and strategies to achieve an excellent Catholic school education for our students. The Jaguar Fund is St. Gabriel Catholic School’s annual giving platform that supports the current and future initiatives of the school in fulfilling its ultimate mission to develop each student spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially.
